A few months ago I was so excited to get this assignment from Mother Jones. What was even better is that they took a chance on me and let me light it. I hope you’ll read the article as well. Really important information about our water supply and how it’s possibly poisoning us. It alos shows that the people that grow our food are the ones who bear the brunt of the chemicals we use. I was really enamored, or perhaps intrigued, by Tyrone Hayes. He’s a unique person. I find it inspiring that he remains true to himself no matter how far that goes off traditional expectations of who he should be. It is quite a read. It’s not online yet but you can check it out in this month’s magazine. Let you know when it’s up online. One exciting note, I came into the shoot with many ideas of what I wanted Mr. Hayes to do. He vetoed them all. But then told me that Martin Schoeller had photographed him as well and asked them to do the exact same things. To which Mr. Schoellar also got a Big NO. Felt perhaps I was on the right track.
